Star Trek - the movie?
I saw him, and for the most part, he loved, especially the first hour. I thought that Chris Pine was great, although I was not really crazy about Zachary Quinto. I thought the main "incompatible" with the original series was knowledge of the Romulans: In the original series, Kirk and the gang only found the Romulan / Vulcan link when the Federation was attacked (in fact, Federation did not even know what looked like Romulans). Here, they apparently knew well before the story was changed by the renegade Romulan. The romance between two principles also out of left field. Anyway, my biggest problem with the movie was the "drill" which was used to cut in planetary cores. Would not Spacefleet Vulcan did everything he could to destroy this thing (like Federation when it was used on land)? It's like two planets, said: "gee there is a laser drill cutiing on our planet, how could it be bad? "Your thoughts?
I also liked the film, the actors are good, but certainly not as good as the originals ... All inconsistencies were removed because the film is not supposed to be part of the original timeline, it is a reality alternative (they talk in one scene of the bridge), it does effect is unaffected by the original shows and movies ... Yeah, the thing I drilling interferes too much, the Vulcans were expected to have superior technology, even to the earth they were pretty much hoarding, then why the hell could they destroy the drilling crap? The only excuse they could give is "oh well, it's a futuristic drilling, whooo "type of logic, because the ship's phasers and it took at the end were the future, but you say they have put in place for at least a bit of a fight instead of staying in a cave holding hands!
