Are cable companies required to offer you cable for an affordable price?
Many people might not know this, but I've read that cable companies are required by the FCC to provide cable services for an affordable price. You might not get all the channels you want, but things like ESPN, AMC, The Weather Channel and so on, are. It can go as little as $10 a month. Does anybody know anything about this?
Cable companies are bound by individual charters for each jurisdiction they're in. Generally speaking however they are only required to provide broadcast tv--ie. the five networks plus any local only channels--at a minimal price. You definitely won't get ESPN, as that channel alone can account for 25% of programming charges!
