Which is better practice? A pitching machine or a batting tee?
Which would you get better from?
A batting tee is the best instrument to help you learn how to hit. It is all about form. The only use a pitching machine has is that it can help you adjust to different speeds of a ball, so you can get your timing mechanism down. But even this isn't very useful because a pitching machine is just that, a machine that pitches balls at basically the same area with the same speed and no ball movement. While you can not get ball movement from a stationary tee, the tee helps you learn how to do everything perfectly, from hand rotation to weight shifting. This is why professional and college athletes all around use tees for hours on end in practice. However, the best practice for hitting is live pitching. I have known plenty of teammates who can hit a ball off a pitching machine but when it comes down to a live pitcher they miss every time.
